Treatment with Ketamine
Why Ketamine?
Ketamine can be used to treat a greater variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD. You can read more about ketamine in detail in our FAQ.
Things to consider about treatment with Spravato

Ketamine treatment for mental health conditions is not currently covered by health insurance plans. Please see “Paying for Ketamine” below for information about pricing and payment options.

We administer ketamine as an injection, or a shot, which is usually given in the upper arm.

Because we only offer intramuscular (IM) ketamine rather than intravenous (IV) ketamine treatment, we are able to keep our costs lower than other clinics offering ketamine treatment in the Northern Colorado area. We pride ourselves in ensuring that ketamine is affordable and accessible to those who would benefit from it for mental health concerns.

For treatment with ketamine at our clinic, some individuals may not be required to continue treatment with oral medications, depending on your situation.

Paying for Ketamine
Spravato® (esketamine) is FDA-approved specifically for individuals with treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Because of this approval and the associated clinical guidelines, many health insurance plans provide coverage for Spravato® treatment.
Ketamine therapy, however, is not currently covered by insurance when used for mental health conditions. As a result, ketamine sessions are self-pay, and payment is due at the time of treatment.
Some insurance providers may reimburse certain costs, even if they do not cover ketamine treatment itself. Upon request, we’re happy to provide a detailed “superbill” outlining services rendered and payments made. You can submit this to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, though we cannot guarantee coverage or reimbursement amounts.
All patients receiving ketamine treatment must first complete an intake appointment. While ketamine sessions are not covered by insurance, the intake appointment may be eligible for insurance coverage, depending on your plan. If insurance cannot be used, the out-of-pocket cost for this appointment is $300. Please click here to review insurance plans we are able to accept.

The Ketamine
Experience
To get started with ketamine treatment

You will first have a 60-minute intake assessment during which your psychiatric history will be reviewed. In this appointment, we will work with you to determine which treatment option is best for you.

After your intake assessment is completed, we will schedule you for treatment as soon as possible.

Each treatment session lasts for approximately 1 hour. The ketamine treatment schedule is as follows:
-
2 sessions per week for the first 2 weeks
-
1 session per week for the following 2 weeks
-
Additional sessions for maintenance, as determined by your response to treatment. Many clients need at least 1 treatment every 1 to 2 months during maintenance treatment.

Requirements for Ketamine
To ensure your safety and the effectiveness of your care, certain requirements must be met before and during your ketamine treatment at our clinic. Ketamine can produce side effects—including dissociation, which is an intended part of the therapeutic experience—so we follow specific protocols to provide a safe and supportive environment.

Transportation: You must arrange for a trusted adult to drive you home after each session. Driving yourself is not permitted.

Session Duration: Each session lasts a minimum of one hour to allow for a safe and complete experience.

In-Clinic Only: All treatments are administered in our office. Ketamine is not available as a take-home medication.

Ongoing Care: You must remain under the care of your current psychiatric medication provider throughout the course of ketamine treatment.

Therapeutic Support: We strongly encourage regular engagement in therapy to support and enhance your treatment outcomes.
